Ghostbar @ the Palms Hotel

This Thanksgiving weekend Aileen, Tara (Aileen's Friend), and I went to Vegas. They have killer deals on hotels for Thanksgiving day. We stayed at the Palms Hotel for $99.

The front desk gave us no-line no-cover passes to the Ghostbar on the 52nd floor. We have never been there before so it was exciting. The bar was much smaller than I expected, the outside patio was very cool. I could see all of Vegas, however it was cold and windy out there. No celebrity citings, I guess they don't go out on Thanksgiving.

More KC BBQ 2005

Kansas City has some of the best BBQ in the US. I visited 2 more restaurants on my trip. Jack's Stack and Gates BBQ.

I really like the sweet BBQ sauce at Jack's Stack, but this is a more commercialized chain restaurant. I really liked their homemade onion rings, they were huge. About 1 inch thick and 5 inches in diameter. The best BBQ sauce.

However, Gates BBQ has some of the best baby back ribs and a slightly spicer BBQ sauce. I had a full slab of ribs at Gates and it was the best.

Arthur Bryant's Ribs in Kansas City in 2005

I had some ribs at Arthur Bryan'ts in Kansas City. After eating my slab of ribs (they were just okay), I found out from some locals that the pork sandwich is what Arthur's is know for. I saw them making the pork sandwich and I wish I had more room in my belly. They slice about 1 pound of slow cooked pork topped with their famous BBQ sauce between 2 slices of Wonderbread. It also comes with pickles and fries. All wrapped up in a piece of paper, like meat wrapped from a deli. The sandwich was so huge that most of the customer just eat the pork and eat the bread on the side.

It was a very small place with some great food. Here is a picture of me outside of the restaurant after my dinner.

Furcal Autograph Offical MLB Base

I went with my brother to the NL Wild Card game between the Dodgers & Mets on October 7, 2006, unfortunately the my beloved Dodgers lost 9-5. Damn Mets, ruined my night.

So to make up for the loss, I needed to buy something from the stadium. I was deciding bewteen an autographed baseball from Jeff Kent (Dodger Dream Foundation Silent Auction) or an autographed base from Rafael Furcal (Collectibles Stand).

After a very short consultation with my brother I got the autographed base. He convinced me that when can I ever get something like this again. It is an actual base used in a Dodger game, it was 3rd base. Not sure what game it was from, I will have to check into that.

So here are some pictures of the base. This is also me standing in front of the Vince Scully press box. Money well spent, I just need to find a display case for this.
